A four year old would be happy if you booked a room in your local big-name hotel -- between the pool, room service, and jumping on the beds, he'd be in heaven. So anywhere the adults are willing to go, the kid should be happy. Except maybe Hershey. He won't remember it and will love to go there in his teens. I'd say Myrtle Beach has tons for the adults and good stuff for the child. Don't miss the aquarium. This person would fly out Friday after work, spend three days touring a given area or participating in a particular event, then fly home on the fifth day to be at work on Wednesday. This person would be leaving from the New England/New York area, so the destination would have to be the contiguous United States. (No passport yet.)
