How common is typhoid fever in Europe?
Q. Give me good answers, please.
Asked by Olga G - Mon Aug 30 09:50:23 2010 - Infectious Diseases - 1 Answers - Comments

A. Europe is such a big continent, so it is hard to say. There is practically no typhoid fever at all in Finland. (There are about 5 infections/ year and people get the disease abroad.) There were 8-32 infected people/ year in Sweden in 2000-2010. There were 11-18 infections in Norway in 2000-2004. Most of the people got infected abroad.

A. What are the signs and symptoms of typhoid fever? Persons with typhoid fever usually have a sustained fever as high as 103deg to 104deg F (39deg to 40deg C). They may also feel weak, or have stomach pains, headache, or loss of appetite. In some cases, patients have a rash of flat, rose-colored spots. The only way to know for sure if an illness is typhoid fever is to have samples of stool or blood tested for the presence of S. Typhi . MORE: Centers for Disease Control and Prevention,

I need advice on what kind of 2D model I can make on the illness Typhoid Fever for my assignment?
Q. I'm almost done writing my paper on the Typhoid Fever, but I also have to make a 2D model on it. Does anyone have any good ideas of what I should do to make this model look appealing as well as informative? Please no nonsense answers. Thanks.
Asked by narcissa - Tue Aug 21 20:19:41 2007 - Drawing & Illustration - 2 Answers - Comments

A. You could make a model showing someone ingesting the infected foods or ways this fever is contracted by the infected and then make it a step by step progression table. I would go to your local Halloween store for supplies, or a craft shop. We have Mangelsons in Omaha NE so I hope you have one out there. Taker care hope that helps.

Did Schubert Die of syphilis or typhoid fever?
Q. the more I research it, it is unclear if Franz Schubert died of Syphilis, or typhoid fever. Does anyone know for sure
Asked by fred g - Fri Jan 2 19:12:51 2009 - Classical - 3 Answers - Comments

A. I don't think anyone can know for sure. Schubert definitely HAD syphilis, and there is speculation that what made him kick the bucket was actually typhoid. There is also (just to confuse you even more) the theory that he died from neither. Some say he died from mercury, as his final symptoms matched the symptoms of mercury poisoning, and mercury was a common treatment for syphilis back then. Sorry if this didn't help clear up your confusion much, but I don't think your question can be answered with a definite.. answer!

Why'd Mary Lincoln throw a party when Willy had typhoid fever?
Q. The History Channel said Mary was having a large party and willy ( the son) was up in the bedroom with typhoid fever- 2 days later he was dead. If Mary knew her son had typhoid, why'd she still have a big party? Or, did Willy get the fever that night?
Asked by scorpus23 - Wed Feb 24 23:35:48 2010 - History - 1 Answers - Comments

A. Mary Todd Lincoln was INSANE! She had constant depression, marital problems, & nobody liked her. So the reason she still had the party was, nobody liked coming to her parties and so throwing a party while little Willy had Typhoid was alright with her, as long as people were at her party she didn't care!

Does anyone know anything about typhoid fever?
Q. I am in Africa right now and have been sick for over a week. I thought it was giardia and took medicine for that on Sunday but I am not better. I have diarrhea, stomach cramps, headache and a low-grade fever. My husband won't be home for 2 days. I am not dehydrated and would prefer to wait for him to go to the doctor since he knows the language and I don't. Do you think it is ok to wait?

Q. Hi, She was given Ceftriaxone (2gm/vial) each day for 8 days and it hasn't been effective. She is in Bangladesh at the moment and I'm not sure of the doctor's quality. What should she be given now? She weighs 50kgs. Someone has recommended azithromycin. Is this a good choice? How long will it take to work and what are the complications? I have friends who are doctor (medicine specialist) and I may try to have second opinion for you through e-mails, if you like. Btw, the doctors quality in Bangladesh ranges from quack to highly specialised professionals. The problem is that to tend 150 million people of Bangladesh these are insufficient and lack of supporting resources (men and materials) makes the situation complicated and our doctors are now famous for milking their clients the way our lawyers or teachers for that matter other professionals who are habituated to… [cont.]
