A. now the picture is of bacterial, what was the lymphocyte count earlier? Which probably showed viral picture, either of it can be false or a viral followed by bacterial infection or a mixed one, but i suggest you to repeat it from a more reliable centre, nothing to panic.

Q. I am having cold, blocked nose, little appetite and severe gas problem in the evening since last one week. I am having a painless swelling below my armpit. Doctor suggested me cetrizine for cold and Azythromycin antibiotics for 3 days and apprehending it may be typhoid fever. So he had written for widal test. I want to know whether Azythromycin for 3 days will cure typhoid or should I do the tests. Because slowly I am getting my appetite back but uneasiness feeling is there.

Q. Hi, I had fever couple of days back and lot of fatigue and body pain. But no lose motion or vomitting or headache. Today doctor suggested for widal and my results are : S typhi TO: 1:80 dilution, S typhi TH: 1:80 dilution, S Para typhi AH - negative and S para typhi BH-Negative. A. I have experienced the same daily " aches" and muscle pains especially in the morning , along with congestion , headache, or severe sinus migraines and fatigue. It sounds like you could have food allergies. One thing you could do is try going without sugar, dairy products, wheat/whey/oat/barley/rye and corn products for 2 weeks. Then slowly reintroduce these products and wait a couple of days before trying the next one... see if you have an allergic reaction.

A. Widal test is done for diagonising Typhoid.. This count shows that ur daughter is having Typhoid fever.. Dont need to panic, its in starting stage 1ly... medication and rest for few days is enough to cure this..

A. It estimates the antibody titre to Salmonella typhi, which causes typhoid or enteric fever and S. paratyphi, causing paratyphoid. S. typhi 'O' signifies present infection and 'H' old infection or vaccination. 'Generally, 'O' titre of 1:160 or more is taken as signicant. A serially rising titre is more suggestive of infection. However, it is now considered an out-dated test. Blood culture is the most reliable test for typhoid. Now, there are also other antibody tests like Typhidot.

In this test, an antigen and sera are placed in two wells of a gel and are forced to migrate towards each other by applying an electric field. A. the test for typhoid? I think you are asking if there is any food item that will give a false positive reaction? No - none that I"ve ever heard of. But the Widal test is SOOO nonspecific, that it really has not been used in clinical practice for the past 25 years. It is much easier to culture appropriate material for brucellosis or typhoid if that is the diagnosis you are seeking. sorry, don't know any food that would make the Widal test positive. I've never ordered the test in my life - and I've been around a long time (:-)

A. WIDAL is a non specific blood test to find out if Ur child has typhoid fever. It should be done only if your child has fever for more than 7 days because before that even if it is positive it may be because of some previous infection. It is non specific because it can be positive in many other conditions. But putting the history, examination of child and WIDAL positivity we can take it as typhoid and start treatment. By the way the gold standard test for typhoid is blood culture

A. If you have been diagnosed to be suffering from Typhoid conclusively based on titres there are effective drugs to control and eradicate the disease. If fever is persisting then the drug you are taking is not effective against the strain you are infected with. You better change the antibiotic and have a full course and fever will come down. At times rarely the fever is likely to persist in spite of the drugs give the drug at least 5 days and change.
